Malang, May 7, 2026 – Malang is now offering a new kind of transportation experience. It is not merely a shift in vehicle type, but a transformation in how every journey feels. Through an electric transporter fleet operated by PO Bagong in collaboration with PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (“VKTR”), this initiative represents a concrete step toward delivering mobility solutions that are not only sustainable, but also aligned with the practical, day-to-day needs of the community.
Director and Chief Operating Officer of VKTR, V. Bimo Kurniatmoko, emphasized that this collaboration is part of a broader effort to expand access to green transportation across various regions in Indonesia. “We believe that green transportation should not be a privilege limited to major cities. Amid rising fuel costs and the volatility of global oil prices, transport operators are also required to become more adaptive in managing their operations. Through our collaboration with PO Bagong, we aim to broaden access to electric commercial vehicles across different regions and segments of society, while also delivering solutions that are more efficient, measurable, and sustainable for transport operators. This marks a strategic step to ensure that the transition toward green mobility is not only inclusive, but also aligned with real operational needs on the ground,” Bimo explained.
From an implementation standpoint, the adoption of this electric fleet reflects the readiness of local operators to integrate new technologies into their daily operations. From fleet management to charging processes, all aspects have been incorporated into routine activities—demonstrating that electric vehicles are no longer just a concept, but a practical, real-world solution.
President Director of PT Bagong Dekaka Makmur (PO Bagong), Budi Susilo, stated that this decision is part of the company’s commitment to continuously adapt to industry developments while enhancing passenger service quality. “We see that transportation is evolving, and as an operator, we must adapt accordingly. However, our top priority remains passenger comfort. With electric vehicles, we can provide a smoother, quieter, and more comfortable journey. At the same time, we also want to play a role in advancing greener transportation in Malang,” said Budi.
Impact on Environment and Community
The introduction of this electric fleet also brings broader benefits to the surrounding environment. Unlike conventional vehicles, electric vehicles produce no tailpipe emissions during operation, helping maintain cleaner air quality along travel routes and reducing pollution exposure for people in public spaces.
In the long term, each journey using electric transporters is no longer just about moving from one point to another, but also part of a collective effort to build a more sustainable transportation system and support healthier living conditions for the community.
A New Experience for Passengers
Beyond environmental benefits, electric vehicles also offer a distinctly different travel experience. Minimal vibration and engine noise create a quieter cabin atmosphere, resulting in a more calm and comfortable journey.
The difference is noticeable from the moment the vehicle starts moving. Without loud engine noise or harsh jolts, the ride feels smoother and more stable. The seamless acceleration provides additional comfort, particularly for passengers sensitive to motion. Altogether, these elements deliver a new experience that is rarely found in conventional public transportation.
The Lokon Transporter is designed for commercial mobility needs, with a capacity of up to 17 passengers, while delivering operational efficiency through a range of up to 340 km on a single full charge. This combination of capacity and driving range makes it well-suited for both urban and intercity routes with high operational frequency, without compromising passenger comfort.
As part of introducing this fleet, on Thursday (7/5), VKTR together with PO Bagong also invited members of the media to directly see and experience riding electric transporters in Malang. This initiative aims to provide the public with a tangible understanding that electric vehicles are ready for everyday use.
Through this collaboration, PO Bagong and VKTR are not only bringing technological innovation, but also strengthening the transition toward a more sustainable and inclusive transportation ecosystem. This initiative is expected to mark the beginning of broader adoption in the future, while inspiring more stakeholders to contribute to the transformation of transportation in Indonesia.
