iNews.id - PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk. (“VKTR” or the “Company”) – also known as ‘Vektor,’ is a company focused on developing an electric vehicle ecosystem in the heavy mobility segment. On Monday (June 19, 2023), VKTR successfully listed its shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) under the ticker symbol “VKTR.” This milestone makes VKTR the first public company in Indonesia specializing in the development and production of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) in the commercial vehicle segment, with its main products being EV buses and EV trucks.
Anindya N. Bakrie, President Commissioner of VKTR, stated, “VKTR has chosen to focus on the development of BEVs in the commercial vehicle segment, particularly buses and trucks. Data shows that the demand for buses in Jakarta alone will reach more than 10,000 units by 2030. Considering the potential across Indonesia, this number could increase up to 20 times higher.”
VKTR has established a strategic partnership with BYD Auto, the world’s largest bus manufacturer, to strengthen its position in electric vehicle development. Currently, VKTR has successfully supplied 30 BYD-branded buses operated by TransJakarta, and will soon add another 22 units of the same brand.
Gilarsi W. Setijono, President Director of VKTR, explained, “Currently, VKTR imports K-9 type buses as CBU (completely built-up) units directly from BYD’s factory in Shenzhen, China. However, we are also pioneering the development of an assembly facility in Indonesia through a partnership with local partner Trisakti, which has extensive experience in the field. Our EV bus assembly facility will be located in Magelang, Central Java, with an initial assembly capacity of 500 units per year. We are committed to developing this facility into a robust manufacturing line, increasing capacity to more than 3,000 units per year. Through this initiative, we aim to meet the government’s local content requirements (TKDN) and produce electric vehicles that become a source of national pride.”
All proceeds from VKTR’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) will be used strategically. About 40.29% will be allocated for Capital Expenditure (CAPEX), supporting product and production facility development. Around 11.69% will be injected into VKTR’s subsidiary, PT Bakrie Autoparts (“BA”), as equity participation to strengthen competitiveness in the EV components sector. Additionally, approximately 2.51% will be used to repay debt to PT Tambara Tama Mandiri (TTM), and about 1.40% to repay debt to PT Andara Multi Sarana (AMS). The remaining 44.11% will be allocated for working capital and operations to meet VKTR’s operational needs.
Gilarsi added, “With the success of this IPO, we hope VKTR can optimally execute its business plan on schedule, supported by the funds raised from the Public Offering. We are committed not only to distributing electric vehicles, starting with electric buses, but also to manufacturing EVs in the future to deliver greater contributions to local content requirements. Furthermore, we are committed to delivering optimal value to all our shareholders, who have been an integral part of VKTR’s journey, while supporting the government’s efforts in transitioning toward clean energy in the future.”
