Magelang, May 29, 2025 – PT VKTR Sakti Industries (“VKTS”), a subsidiary of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (“VKTR”), hosted the soft launching of Indonesia’s first commercial electric vehicle (EV) assembly facility based on a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) system. This event served as a strategic initiative to introduce VKTR’s industrial infrastructure readiness to key stakeholders, including government representatives, strategic partners, and national EV industry players.
The soft launching ceremony was opened by Anindya Bakrie, President Commissioner of VKTR, and attended by Ahmad Yani, Secretary of the Directorate General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, alongside other government officials and strategic industry partners. In his remarks, Anindya emphasized that the facility’s establishment represents VKTR’s long-term vision to deliver mobility solutions that are technology-driven, sustainable, and globally competitive.
This facility is the first in Indonesia specifically designed to serve as a commercial EV assembly center based on the CKD system. It was built to assemble electric buses and trucks as the backbone of a comprehensive national EV ecosystem. Groundbreaking began in February 2024 and was fully completed by the end of the same year—a milestone that reflects VKTR’s managerial and technological capability as well as its strong commitment to energy and transportation transformation.
“From the outset, we envisioned this facility not merely as a factory, but as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and a symbol of the revival of Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry,” said Anindya Bakrie. “With the support of the government, strategic partners, and local talent, we believe Indonesia holds a strategic opportunity to lead the transition to sustainable mobility in Southeast Asia and contribute meaningfully to the global market.”
The soft launching agenda focused not only on facility introductions but also included a factory tour, offering stakeholders a first-hand experience of exploring the assembly area and gaining a deeper understanding of the facility’s layout, functions, and production line readiness. Although live production was not yet underway, the tour showcased VKTR’s technical and operational capacity through transparent presentation of the planned assembly stages—from chassis preparation, welding, and general assembly to trimming and final finishing.
The facility has already succeeded in producing electric vehicles with a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) exceeding 40% for the bus segment, demonstrating VKTR’s ability to deliver highly competitive products with strong local value.
With an annual production capacity of up to 3,000 units, this facility is designed to meet Indonesia’s growing demand for electric vehicles. Several strategic partners, including Transjakarta, have placed orders for VKTR electric buses through operator DAMRI, and VKTR buses have also been operated previously by Sinarjaya and Mayasari Bakti.
This facility marks a significant milestone in VKTR’s industrialization roadmap. Moving forward, VKTR aims to gradually increase its TKDN above 60%, expand production lines, and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global EV supply chain. The roadmap will serve as a strategic guide toward a greener, more self-reliant, and globally competitive automotive industry.
“This facility reflects our serious commitment to delivering commercial EVs that are not only reliable and high-quality but also a true demonstration of Indonesian engineering excellence,” said Gilarsi W. Setijono, President Director of VKTR. “With TKDN already exceeding 40%, we are proving that Indonesia is capable of producing globally standard EVs with strong local character.”
In addition, this event served as a platform for VKTR to introduce its new commercial electric vehicle brand identity, inspired by Indonesia’s natural heritage. For the bus category, VKTR introduced the names Tidar HF 12 and Arjuno HF 8, symbolizing strength and stability. For its truck line, Musi HDT 64 L was introduced, reflecting the flow of energy and driving force. These names underscore VKTR’s commitment to delivering technology-driven products that are also rich in cultural meaning and local identity.
